Byu's offense came out totally flat, if they had played like they did in the second half all game, then they would have won. If they played the whole game like they played the third quarter then they would have dominated. Byu's defense did ok, but i still would have liked to see a better performance out of some of the players, and yes, i realize that their D-Line is inexperienced, but i still think some of them could have performed better.

I was surprised they did as well as they did. Without all those penalties and turnovers they would've won. Would've, could've, should have.

I wasn't going to post, but after all, I am fully invested in BYU football and Bronco Mendenhall.

Penalties and turnovers. Those two things are the reason that BYU didn't come out of Pasadena with a win. Field position was also a key factor. UCLA had great field position because of the punter. Be serious, most of us could punt better than Santiago. (This does not give an excuse to boo him, especially at home.) BYU's offense got off to a slow start. The defense looks really good this year, especially at linebacker. Bryan Kehl is looking for double figures in sacks this season, and he didn't get one against Arizona. (Ben Olsen should have seen this one coming.)
After the half, BYU put something together and totally outclassed UCLA. They put together two touchdowns in the third quarter and were looking for more. They had a couple of chances but couldn't pull anything together. Except for UCLA's last drive, the defense played well. Maybe it was the pressure put on them, I don't know. I hope they can fix that for later games. BYU should have won this game! But we're moving on to the next game and trying to get over it.

All in all, I am very optimistic about the rest of the season. Here is my list of the remaining games, most difficult to easiest.
TCU - although played in Provo
Wyoming - anything can happen in Laramie in November.
Tulsa - should be a win
CSU - looked good against Cal and CU
Utah - even if Brian Johnson is back
UNM - at New Mexico
Air Force - fairly easy game
SDSU - SDSU is a bottom of the barrel team
UNLV - nuff said
Eastern Washington - rest the starters

GO Cougars!!
Bronco is the man!
